Alessandra Sanguinetti is an Argentine artist who just moved to the bay area from New York, where she attended the International Center for Photography. She has won the Hasselblad Foundation grant, is a member of Magnum, and has book On the Sixth Day published by Nazraeli Press.
Alessandra has been working on an ongoing series of photographs following the lives of the young cousins Guillermina and Belinda as they grow up on their family’s farm outside Buenos Aires. She has been working with the girls since 1999 and the images deal with the fantasies and angst of moving from childhood into adulthood. There is a blend of staged photographs and candid images of the girls.
